WHAT IS SAG-AFTRA MUST PAY?

You may be forced to join the union. If you work a union job and become SAG-AFTRA eligible, 30 days later you automatically become SAG-AFTRA Must-Pay. This means that before you work a second union job, you must pay and join the union. Producers are required to verify your union status by checking with the union. However, some states that are considered “right to work” such as North Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and other Republican states, the SAG-AFTRA Must Pay does not apply. In California and New York, the SAG-AFTRA Must Pay does apply. #SAGAFTRA
